Jake Sully (Actor- Sam Worthington)

In the first movie, Sam Worthington’s performance as the paraplegic soldier who fell in love with a Na’vi woman received much praise. In this sequel, he is back as Jake Sully once again, only this time, he has a family to protect. He has three children from his wife, Neytiri, with whom he is shown to live peacefully. The plot suddenly turns when the Resources Development Administration or RDA attacks his tribe.

Neytiri (Actor- Zoe Saldana)

The beautiful Zoe Saldana also makes a return in the sequel. Her fans highly appreciated her reprisal of the role of Neytiri. In the first film, she was a fearless warrior who never gave up a chance to defend her people. In the sequel, she is still that warrior, but you also see her softer side. She is a wonderful mother to her children and a dutiful wife to Jake.

Kiri (Actor- Sigourney Weaver)

Quite surprisingly, the first character you see in the movie isn’t Jake but Kiri. The character is played by Sigourney Weaver, who played Dr. Grace Augustine in the first movie. The character Dr. Augustine was killed off earlier. In this movie, Sigourney Weaver plays the role of her daughter, who Jake and Neytiri adopt. The audience was delighted to see her come to terms with her identity, which she was shown to be struggling with throughout the film.

Miles Quarritch (Actor- Stephen Lang)

As the saying goes, “There’s no hero without a villain.” Miles Quarritch joins the franchise once again to fulfill the role of the quintessential bad guy. The Avatar 2 cast would be incomplete without him. We all cheered when he died in the first movie at Jake’s hands. This time, he is reborn as a recombinant and has the same looks and features as the Na’vi.

Lo’ak (Actor- Britain Dalton)

The audience praised the actor for his role as Lo’ak, Jake’s youngest son. Lo’ak is a young Na’vi who constantly feels unsure about his father’s perception of him. He feels that he is not as strong or brave as his father. The relationship between the father and son is one of the major themes that the film explores.

Neteyam (Actor- Jamie Flatters)

Another major addition to the Avatar 2 characters is Jake’s oldest son Neteyam, played by the talented Jamie Flatters. Neteyam is that dutiful brother who always takes the fall for his siblings. He dies, saving them from a bullet shot by the enemy. Neteyam is the only major character that dies in the movie.

Spider (Actor- Jack Champion)

Spider was born as Miles Socorro at Hell’s Gate in Pandora. He is Miles Quarritch’s son but was adopted by Jake after his father died in the first film. Throughout the movie, he struggles to find his place among the Na’vi. Jack Champion’s portrayal of this conflict and dichotomy in his character was noteworthy.

Tonowari (Actor- Cliff Curtis)

Actor Cliff Curtis joins the Avatar 2 cast as Tonowari. He is the chief of the Metkayina tribe. This is a tribe of Na’vi people who live underwater. Tonowari acts as Jake’s guide and mentor when the latter takes shelter in the water. He is a resilient fighter who decides to wage war against Miles Quarritch when his daughter is kidnapped.

Ronal (Actor- Kate Winslet)

When it was first heard that actress Kate Winslet was joining a James Cameron film, 15 years after the superhit movie Titanic, fans could not subdue their joy. She plays the role of Ronal, Tonowari’s wife. At first, she is reluctant to allow Jake and his family to stay with the Metkayina, but she comes to her husband’s decision later in the movie. She even helps to train Jake for the upcoming battle with the RDA.

Aonung (Actor- Filip Geljo)

Another new addition to the Avatar 2 characters is Aonung, played by Filip Geijo. He is Tonowari’s son and is shown to share a bitter enmity with L’oak. But, in the end, they become good friends when the latter takes the blame for a deadly prank played by Aonung.

Tsireya (Actor- Bailey Bass)

Tsireya is Tonowari’s daughter and is played by actor Bailey Bass. Tsireya builds a friendship with Lo’ak and Kiri and even protects them when her brother and his friends bother them. She identifies with Lo’ak’s struggle to find his place among the Na’vi. She is kidnapped at the end of the film by Miles Quarritch.

Tuktirey (Actor- Trinity Jo-Li Bliss)

Actor Trinity Jo-Li Bliss joins the cast of Avatar 2 as Tuktirey. She is Jake’s only daughter and youngest child. Throughout the film’s plot, she has no major role to play until the very end, when Miles Quarritch kidnaps her, and her brother dies in an attempt to save her.

Captain Mick Scoresby (Actor- Brendan Cowell)

Captain Mick Scoresby is a new baddie in the movie, played by actor Brendan Cowell. He is an ally of Miles Quarritch and leads a marine hunting ship in Pandora.

Dr. Ian Garvin (Actor- Jemaine Clement)

Ian Garvin can best be described as an evil genius. Jermaine Clement plays the role of a marine biologist who aids the RDA in their assault on Pandora. He is killed at the end by Payakan.

General Frances Ardmore (Actor- Edie Falco)

Edie Falco plays the role of a general in the RDA, who is tasked with mining Pandora’s vast resources. She, too, gets killed by Payakan.
