Kimetsu no Yaiba, also known as Demon Slayer, shook the whole anime community when it first arrived with its first season. The outstanding animation, unique art, and hardcore fighting scenes won every anime fan’s heart without any struggle. The Demon Slayer manga topped the all-time best-selling manga One Piece in 2019.
Then came out the canon Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Ressha-hen (Infinity Train arc), and broke the record of the highest-grossing movies in Japanese history which was previously owned by the Oscar-winning anime movie Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away) for almost two long decades. Now that is an achievement, isn’t it? Even season 3 was a huge success and it had only 11 episodes.
So in today’s article, we will discuss Demon Slayer season 4 release date and time and what we should anticipate about the upcoming season.
Is there a season 4 of demon slayer?
Yes, absolutely. Just after the season 3 finale was aired, it was officially announced that Demon Slayer is coming back for another season. It has been a month since the official teaser was out and the video has more than 8 million views on Crunchyroll Collection’s official channel.
When is Demon Slayer Season 4 Release Date
It is hard to tell at this moment. Ufotable is an anime studio that likes to take its time and pay attention to details when working on a project. They are not known for working on multiple high-profile projects at the same time. And given the popularity of Kimetsu no Yaiba, I am sure it is their top priority right now. Though the proximate Demon Slayer Anime season 4 release date is still in the dark, anime-savvy people are predicting it will come out sometime in 2023, probably in the fall.
Is it season 3 or 4?
According to Netflix, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen (Entertainment District Arc) is season 3. But if you follow the actual Japanese format, Yuukaku-hen is considered the 2nd part of season 2. Mugen Ressa-hen was later aired as a 7-episode series on TV and it is considered the 1st part of season 2. That makes Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen (Swordsmith Village Arc) the 3rd season, to be honest.
What Should We Anticipate about the New Season?
The one thing everybody is talking about Demon Slayer season 3 is the amazing animation in the last two episodes. We have seen Uzui Tengen defeat an Upper Moon demon with the help of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inoske, and Nezuko. And it was a huge deal because it was the first time in a century that someone has killed an Upper Moon demon.
Though a short cameo of Douma, the current Upper Moon 2 was shown (who was voiced by our beloved Mamo-chan, and the whole anime community went crazy), he will not be appearing in season 4.
Swordsmith Village Arc starts from the 12th volume of the Demon Slayer manga and ends in volume 13. So if you want to know what happened after Yuukaku-hen, this is where you need to start reading.
In the Swordsmith Village arc, we will see two Hashiras Tokitou Muichirou (Mist Hashira who is also known as the youngest one to ever become a Hashira, a true prodigy) and Kanroji Mitsuri (Love Hashira) fighting not one but two Upper Moon demons, Gyokko (Upper Moon 5) and Hantengu (Upper Moon 4). So we can only imagine how epic the fighting scenes will be.
The voice cast of the Hashiras has been announced. Kana Hananzawa, the sweetheart of the Seiyuu industry will be voicing Mitsuri. If you think Shinobu Kocho’s voice was sweet and soothing, wait till you hear Mitsuri’s voice. And Muichiro’s voice actor will be Kawanishi Kengo who is known for voicing Uchiha Shisui from Naruto and Souma Ritsu from Fruits Basket.
And let me whisper a secret into your ear. Remember, Haganezuka Hataro, the guy who wears a weird-looking mask and chases around Tanjiro and others every time they break their swords? If you had a crush on Uzui, prepare yourself, because Haganezuka looks finer than the sound Hashira.
The 5th season will hopefully adopt the Infinity Castle Arc, where we will see Upper Moon 3, Akaza fighting the water Hashira Tomioka Gyou. Be ready for Akaza’s backstory too.

What Other Anime Should You Watch in the Meantime?
Dororo— Though he was responsible for the bankruptcy of Mushi Production and almost bankruptcy of Tezuka Production with his knack for experimenting with new anime themes, there is no doubt that Tezuka Osuma was an absolute legend and he was indeed the creator of the first-ever anime that aired in TV, Astro Boy. The manga Dororo was created by him and was adapted into an anime in 1969. It was later remade in 2019. To be honest, Dororo is an underdog when it comes to Dark Fantasy Seinen. You will find the story quite similar to Demon Slayer, as it shows a young orphan boy, with a child companion, slaying demons to get what belongs to him.
Nurarihyon no Mago— Nurarihiyon no Mago is a shounen anime and the main theme of this anime is Japanese Mythology. This means you will see a lot of demons and spirits while watching the anime. It has two seasons only. The animation is great and so is the voice cast.
Well, unlike Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer’s manga is complete and it is a mighty fine work of art. You can easily read the manga online or buy the official hard copy that will help you support the author. Happy Watching!!!
