In the world of new generation shounen, Black Clover has made its position quite strong. Though the anime received some negative reviews at the beginning, the audience response soon started to convert as the story progressed. With a total episode of 170 episodes, Black Clover has closed its curtain (for now, hopefully). Since the manga is still ongoing, we can surely hope for a great comeback of Black Clover with another brand-new season. Black Clover Season 5 Release Date
There has not been any official news about Black Clover season 5 yet. MyAnimeList, Anime-Planet, and IMDb have marked it as a complete anime. So if there is another season, it will have a separate entry like Bleach and Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War. But no need to become heartbroken for not having any official news yet. The Black Clover manga is still ongoing and releasing new chapters on a regular basis. So, there is a high possibility that the anime will come back for another season.
Studio Pierrot, the production studio of Akatsuki no Yuna, Tokyo Ghoul, and of course the proud owner of two of the big 3 and most popular of all time— Bleach and Naruto is extremely good at making long-running anime. We must have great expectations. But even if the anime returns, it won’t be before 2024.
Black Clover Movie: Sword of the Wizard King
The Black Clover movie will be released in 2023 but the exact release date hasn’t been announced yet. But the possible release date is the end of 2023 or early 2024. It will be available on Netflix.
The story of Black Clover Movie: Sword of the Wizard King is not canon. The story will not have any impact on the main storyline of Black Clover even though the mangaka Yuki Tabata is strongly associated with it.

New Character Appearances in the Black Clover
By far only one new character appearance has been confirmed and that is Conrad who happens to be the previous wizard king. He will be voiced by Toshihiko Seki who is also known for voicing Umino Iruka (Iruka-sensei) from Naruto, Muzan from Kimetsu no Yaiba, Shiba Kaien from Bleach, and Duval from One Piece. Looks like he has worked in all of Big 3 anime.
The character design of Conrad (or Konrad) Leto was done by Yuki Tabata himself.
Black Cover to Watch in Release Date Order
Black Clover anime’s journey started with a Jump Festa omake promotion episode in 2016: Black Clover: Jump Festa 2016 Special. It is an OVA (Original Video Animation) that was released with the 11th volume of Black Clover manga. So this one can be considered the pilot episode.
The main Black Clover anime was released in 2017.
Another Jump Festa Special of Black Clover was released in 2018. It is mainly a comedy bit but also shows a quiz show incident participated by Asta and Yuno.
A 15-episode DVD special was released from 2018 to 2021. An 8-episode ONA (Official Net Animation) was released in 2019 with some exclusive 7-minute episodes.
I know most people do not watch the OVA and ONA episodes, but they are a great source of comedy. So don’t miss out on the Black Clover special episodes.

Black Clover can be considered a long-running typical shounen anime considering various aspects. But the main character Asta is with some great flaws, for example he is very short and his eternal rival plus best friend is very good-looking. Considering all these, and the storyline and the genre, here are a few anime recommendations that you can watch while waiting for Black Clover Movie: Sword of the Wizard King and Black Clover season 5:
Naruto: An orphan child with an ambition of becoming something big, weak at the start but gets stronger with time, has a really cool frenemy— I bet Naruto’s name came into your mind even before Black Clover did. Like many other anime, Black Clover is also highly inspired by Naruto. So if you liked Black Clover, you will love Naruto. One little suggestion, skip the fillers if it starts to get boring.
Boku no Hero Academia: Boku no Hero Academia or My Hero Academia is another anime with a protagonist who failed to inherit any superpowers or natural-born talents. The fight scenes are really fun to watch. This anime is definitely worth watching. You Should try it.
Vanitas no Carte: Though the main two characters of Vanitas to Carte are Orphans as well, the plotline has hardly any similarities to Black Clover. But I am recommending this anime because Vanitas no Carte is a rare gem in the genre of Fantasy Shounen. This anime currently has only two seasons. Hopefully, there will be more in the future.
Noragami: Noragami is an excellent choice of anime if you are looking for a shounen anime with a Japanese mythology plotline, mind blowing comedy scenes, and a heroine that is not a damsel in distress. Seriously, Iki Hiyori and Yukine will steal your heart and make you a fan of Noragami.
